I am a Residence Director, and am aware of many students who are now unable to return to school this coming spring semester. I think that the most appalling part of this decision was that it did not favor the school year at all. If funds were needed to be retracted from student aid, then there are several other ways Governor Quinn could have implemented to wean the state away from obligations with IL students.

Seniors and our youth are the number one priority of our government---if you drop the map you are sending a message to all voters!

I urge the Illinois legislatures to reconsider cutting funds for the MAP grants for students. Many of the students I work with here will be affected! Some will not be able to attend college because of this action! Let's invest in the future of our state--our young people!

At a time when our economy is faltering and our students need education to get ahead, they need the financial support the MAP grant provides now more than ever!! This move will only increase the gap between have's and have-not's in terms of education, which is not what we want!!!
